Add a payment method

Who this is for: All dentists. Required for prepay and autopay accounts; recommended for net-terms accounts (lets you pay invoices with one click).

Time required: ~2 minutes

Before you start

  • Have your credit/debit card or bank account (ACH) ready
  • We use Stripe for payment processing — Artisan Lab never sees your full card number

Steps

1. Open Payment methods

Click Payment methods in the sidebar.

2. Click Add a card

The Stripe Elements form opens.

Add card form

3. Enter card details

  • Card number — 16 digits on the front
  • MM / YY — expiration
  • CVC — 3 digits on the back (4 on Amex, on the front)
  • ZIP — billing ZIP code

4. Save

Click Save card. Stripe validates the card with a $0 authorization (immediately released).

5. (Optional) Set as default

If you have multiple cards, you can mark one as default. The default card is used for autopay and is pre-filled on the Pay invoice screen.

What happens next

  • The card is securely stored at Stripe (we only keep a token + last 4 digits for your reference)
  • For prepay accounts: the next case you submit places an authorization hold on this card
  • For autopay accounts: shipments automatically capture against this card
  • For net-terms accounts: nothing happens automatically — you'll see the card as an option when paying an invoice

Removing a card

In the Payment methods list, click Remove next to the card. You can't remove the only card on a prepay/autopay account — add a replacement first.

Troubleshooting

  • "Your card was declined" — most common causes:
    • Wrong CVC or ZIP
    • Insufficient funds
    • Card blocked for online use (call your bank)
  • "This card is already on file" — Stripe deduplicates on card fingerprint; the card is already added.
  • "I want to use ACH instead" — contact support@artisanlabusa.com; ACH setup needs manual provisioning.
